Google Revamps its TV Service in a Fresh Bid at the Market

Google, in its attempt to have another go at the TV market in the face of the extremely tepid response to its introductory service, launched a new version of Google TV last Friday.

The new service is supposdd to be more user-friendly and is hoped to be a greater success with the end-users.

Google TV 2.0 brings with it some new tools for recommending movies, TV programs and online videos to TV viewers.

Software developers are also going to find it much easier to develop new applications to go with it.

At present, Google TV is bundled with some SONY TV's and some Logitech International set-top boxes; it allows users to access online videos and websites through their televisions apart from using specialised applications and playing videogames on their TV's.

The current user-base of Google TV 1.0 has never been revealed but market watchers believe that Google TV 1.0 has been a disaster. According to Forrester Research analyst James McQuivey "The fire they were trying to start never even got a spark."

Google TV 2.0 apparently hopes to change all that.
