Oprah Winfrey To Get Honorary Oscar



Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced to honour Oprah Winfrey with an Honorary Oscar for recognizing her long and notable humanitarian efforts. Oprah Winfrey to receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian award on November at Annual Governor’s Awards dinner. This award is given to those “"whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry," the Academy said.

Oprah, the most successful Television anchor in the history, is also known for her extensive charity work in Africa.





Along with Winfrey, veteran actor James Earl Jones and make-up artist Dick Smith will also receive honorary Oscars. The honorary Oscar will also be awarded for their outstanding careers.

James Earl Jones has been acted over 50 motion pictures. Some of his famous movies are “Star Wars”, “The Great White Hope”, “Dr. Strangelove”, “The Lion King”.

Dick Smith, the famous make-up artist who pioneered the method of applying prosthetics made from foam latex is considered as one of the most valuable make-up artist of all time in Hollywood. His technique has been used in hundreds of cinemas and television shows around the globe. Some of his brilliant work includes in movies like Little Big Man, The Godfather, The Exorcist, Taxi Driver and Scanners.
