CAT 2011 in a New Avatar

India’s toughest MBA entrance 'CAT' is undergoing change in exam format from this year. To get the mix of students from all streams the IIMs are changing the question pattern of the CAT 2011 for its two-year post-graduate management diploma programme.

The Common Admission Test (CAT) which holds the key to admissions to the 13 IIMs and other major B-schools in the country will be conducted through 20 testing days within the 28 day span between October 22 and November 18, 2011.

This year the number of sections has been reduced to two from the earlier three and also it gets 5 minutes extra than last year.

The two sections will be a) Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. b) Verbal ability and Logical Reasoning. Each section will have 30 questions and 70 minutes will be given making the total test time as 140 minutes, 5 minutes more than CAT 2010. Candidates will get an on-screen countdown timer. Once the time ends for the first section, they will move on to the second without having the option of being able to go back.
Bhilai, Jammu and Dehradun have been the new added locations to the existing 33 test locations. CAT brochures are now available and student can buy the same from 201 branches of Axis Bank.
