True to its name, the rise of Maruti Swift has been swift; but, ironically, there is a sudden, swift fall in its supply.
The bookings for the new 'Maruti Swift' which crossed the 90,000-mark within two weeks after the launch have now plummeted - thanks to the disruption of production at the Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki.
Dealers have stopped making fresh bookings because of the severely affected production. In the one week ending last Sunday, the Manesar plant could produce just 500 cars as against the normal production volume of 8400 cars within the same period.
Despite the current lull in the automotive market, Maruti has been having a busy time coping with the accumulated demand for its cars. The strike at the Manesar facility has certainly been a regrettable setback to Maruti.
