Vodafone, Airtel & Idea to work together for Pan India 3G service

Consequent upon a major breakthrough deal among them, the three leading cellular service provider in India, Vodafone, Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular have announced a joint Pan India 3G service. This deal will help each company to reduce the cost as well as it will allow them to their networks to provide seamless service to their customers. They are now able to use each other's networks through inter and intra-circle roaming arrangements where they do not have licences. However the revenue sharing arrangement among these three operators has not been revealed yet.

Vodafone issued a statement saying, “Vodafone has entered into a bilateral roaming agreement, both inter and intra circle, with Idea and Airtel to provide 3G services to our customers in the circles where we have not built our own 3G network, in order to bring a pan-India experience of 3G services to our customers,"

Currently each Airtel, Aircel and Reliance Communications own 3G spectrum licence in 13 of the 22 telecom circles, while Vodafone has it in 10 circles. Idea and Tatas in 9 circles.
