Nissan LEAF: The All Electric Car

An environment friendly, all-electric car, the Nissan Leaf produces no greenhouse emissions. Nissan Leaf is also the first mass produced all electric vehicle in the world.

Nissan Leaf is a five-door mid-size hatchback electric car and the Leaf's combined fuel economy is at 99 miles per gallon.

The Leaf costs $32,780 including the price of the battery package which has warranty for eight years or 160,000 kilometres (100,000 mi). Though the price of Leaf is high, its total out-of-pocket costs include a US$595 acquisition fee and a US$395 disposition fee.

To see the response and understand the importance of environment friendly vehicles, most governments have announced subsidies for eligible buyers thus bringing the effective purchase price below the retail prices listed by Nissan.

The Nissan Leaf has been overwhelmingly welcomed by customers globally. Over 20,000 units have been pre-booked online forceing Nissan to stop taking orders and clear the backlog. As per Nissan’s promise, they will complete delivery by 2011, and again start taking orders for the next batch of the Leaf.

The Nissan Leaf has received multiple awards including the 2011 European Car of the Year, 2011 Eco-Friendly Car of the Year and 2010 Green Car Vision Award by Green Car Journal.
