Following the success of iBall Aasaan, Intex mobiles, a part of Intex Technologies, has launched 'Intex Vision', a mobile phone for the visually impaired in India. The National Association for the Blind (NAB) has welcomed this mobile. Intex believes that 'Intex Vision' will eventually help more than 12 million blind people in India.
Intex believes that 'Intex Vision' will help empower millions of blind people. Speaking on the occasion, Shailendra Jha, DGM-Telecom, Intex Technologies, said “Intex believes that simple and affordable technology can do wonders in enhancing quality of life of differently-abled people. India has the largest number of blind people in the world and NAB is the best platform in the country to reach to them. Intex Vision is just a small gesture to help empower the visually impaired population by bringing connectivity within easy reach.”
Although Intex Vision resembles iBall Aasaan in appearance, the features are quite different. Intex Vision is a dual SIM phone(GSM), with 2 GB expanded memory based on Braille talking keypad with large buttons. The talking keypad supports English only. Intex Vision has some useful features like an MP3 player, FM Radio, Mobile Tracker and Call Record System also. It can store upto 1000 contacts and 200 SMS messages.

A feature called SOS (similar to Speede Dial), by which anyone can store some emergency numbers and make a call by pressing the SOS button by pressing SOS, is also available.
The price of Intex Vision is Rs. 2600/- and Intex aims to sell 5000 units within 3 months of its launch.
The cognoscenti have made two critical observations about this handset: the inclusion of torchlight in the phone is ironic as this phone is for the blind; while marketing phones targeted at the blind in India, they should have included Hindi language in the talking key pad rather than English alone.
