Airtel Revised Broadband Tariffs, Introduced 'Smartbyte'

Indian Telecom giant Bharti Airtel has revised their broadband rates and came out with new tariff plan under the name of 'Smartbyte'. Customers will now be given the option to buy additional data access at a fixed price after exceeding the data usage threshold under existing plans.

Under the new Smartbyte scheme customers can choose from packs starting at Rs 99 for 1GB to Rs 1,499 for 50GB.
Speaking on the occasion Bharti Airtel President, Consumer Business, K Srinivas said, "Customers who often exceed usage of their allocated quota have to pay per megabyte, which starts from 20 paisa per MB. We will now offer them the option to buy additional data for a fixed price as per their need. This additional data will be offered at the same internet speed the customer has subscribed to."

BlackBerry Curve 9360 Launched In India @ Rs 19,990

Research In Motion (RIM) launched its new BlackBerry Curve smartphone in India with priced at Rs 19,990.

BlackBerry Curve 9360 based on new Blackberry 7 operating system. It comes with GPS and Wi-Fi support, memory support up to 32 GB and 5MP camera with flash and video recording.

RIM has partnered Bharti Airtel for selling the device and Airtel supposed to offer two months of free trial usage period for new users. Also users can make local calls for 20 p/s and free SMS service to any one BlackBerry number of choice for one year from the date of purchase.

BlackBerry Curve 9360 comes with an exclusive feature called BlackBerry Protect which allows users to back up their personal data and help locate misplaced handsets using GPS.

Speaking on the occasion RIM Director Marketing India Krishnadeep Baruah said, "The BlackBerry Curve series has been extremely popular in India and we are excited to launch the all new BlackBerry Curve 9360. It provides an ideal upgrade path for our existing Curve customers as well as the millions of feature phone users in the Indian market".

Bharti Airtel Offers 70 Crore Pay Package For Sunil Mittal

India’s largest cellular service provider Bharti Airtel proposes up to Rs 70 crore annual pay package for its Chiarman & MD Sunil Mittal. The offered package would be more than double his current fiscal remuneration of Rs 27.5 crore.

Bharti Airtel required its shareholders' approval in its upcoming AGM on September 1st for re-appointment of Mittal as its Managing Director with effect from October 1, 2011 as Mittal would complete his current term on September 30th.  For the new term Sunil Mittal would get a remuneration package of up to Rs.70 crore besides other benefits.

However, the collective remuneration, including fixed pay, variable pay, perquisites, allowances and other benefits payable to Mittal would be subject to the overall ceilings laid down by the Indian Government.
Mittal's pay package in 2010-11 included salary and allowances of Rs 9.58 crore, performance linked incentive of Rs 17.87 crore and perquisites worth Rs 4.83 lakh.

Airtel Call Tariff Hikes by 20% in Six Circles

Bharti Airtel announced hike in its call tariffs by 20% in six major circles including New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The hike in tariff will be affected both pre-paid and post-paid customers. Now Tariffs have been increased from1 paise per second to 1.2 paisa per second.

A leading Indian telecom company Bharti Airtel mobile has a total of 169.2 million subscribers and is the fifth-largest mobile operator globally with operations in 19 countries including South Asia and Africa.

The hike comes as Bharti combats fierce domestic competition that has resulted in cutting call rates and now is struggling with high interest costs on debt accumulated to purchase mobile licences in India and to expand into Africa.

Bharti Airtel Launches Airtel Movies

Bharti Airtel has launched Airtel Movies -a unique On-demand online movie screening service. Airtel Movies will be an On-demand digital video library with original DVD quality and exclusively will be available to Airtel broadband users through a unique 'add on monthly pack'.

Recently Bharti Airtel launched Airtel Broadband TV and Airtel Photos which can be availed of by using credit/debit cards.

Airtel Movies would be powered by BigFlix. Customers can access over 500 Movies along with 100 TV shows, 100 trailers and 100 music videos at Rs. 229/- per month on their computer/laptop/tablet at home.

The service can also be accessed via WiFi and movies can be watched anywhere in one's house. The best thing about this service is that it is totally free from advertisements.

Airtel Movies also features fast forward and rewind along with multi tasking. One can browse internet and watch a movie simultaneously.
