Indian Launch of Hyundai Verna RB Expected in May 2011

Hyundai Motors, the second largest car manufacturer in India, is strongly expected to launch their latest offering - the Verna RB, a C+ sedan - in India during May 2011.

After the unveiling of Hyundai RB Saloon (known as Verna in India) at the Moscow Auto Show in 2010, Hyundai has been rife with the speculation that the sedan would be introduced in the Indian auto market early this year.

The Hyundai Verna RB has been spotted at the Chennai plant of Hyundai Motors by Autocar India, a well-known auto magazine, and this is consistent with an approaching launch of the car. Hyundai has already made available a test drive of Verna RB to select media, suggesting strongly the imminent launch of the vehicle. The online campaign for the car buttresses the expectations that the launch date is tantalisingly close.

Commercial production of the new Verna RB is expected to commence around 15th April in the plant at Chennai and the market launch is expected to be sometime during the first week of May 2011.

Hyundai is reported to be about to launch Verna RB with a choice of two diesel and two petrol engines. The petrol variants of Verna RB will be available in 1.4L and 1.6L, generating 106 bhp, 135 Nm torque and 122 bhp, 156 Nm torque respectively. The diesel version of Verna RB will have,1.4L (as in i20 1.4L) and 1.6L, generating 90 bhp, 224 Nm torque and 126 bhp, 265 Nm torque respectively. AT and MT transmission option is expected in all the variants of the car.

Good mileage is expected from both petrol and diesel versions. Hyundai is expected to adopt competitive pricing to compete aggressively with Maruti SX4, Honda City and VW Vento.

Higher-end models of Verna RB are expected to have an impressive array of features like six airbags, parking sensors, steering-mounted audio controls, push button start, electronically folding rear view mirrors, rear seat armrest, cooled glove box, etc.
